Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE), also known as uterine artery embolization, is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat uterine fibroids. Fibroids are noncancerous growths of the uterus that often appear during childbearing years. UFE involves blocking the blood supply to the fibroids, causing them to shrink and die.
