All women should start having Pap smears at age 21, regardless of whether they're sexually active. After the first test, you should have a Pap smear every three years until you're 29. From 30 to 65, you should have a Pap smear plus an HPV test every five years or a Pap smear alone every three years. Women over 65 can stop having Pap smears if they have had regular Pap smear results in the past.
