The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine is a medical intervention designed to protect against the human papillomavirus. HPV is a group of more than 200 related viruses, some of which are high-risk types that can lead to cervical cancer, as well as other cancers and genital warts. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies that will fight off the virus if the person is exposed in the future.
