A positive result on an HPV test indicates the presence of human papillomavirus, which is a risk factor for cervical cancer. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have cervical cancer. Further testing, such as a Pap smear or colposcopy, may be needed to determine the significance of the abnormal result.
