An abnormal mammogram can indicate the presence of breast cancer, but it could also be due to benign conditions such as cysts or fibroadenomas. If a mammogram is abnormal, additional imaging tests like an ultrasound or MRI may be recommended. In some cases, a biopsy might be needed to determine the nature of the abnormality.
