A positive Pap smear result does not necessarily mean you have cervical cancer. A positive result indicates that there are abnormal cells on your cervix. These abnormal cells may be precancerous, meaning they could develop into cancer if left untreated. However, many cases of abnormal cells are not cancerous and can be treated effectively.
