What are the Treatment Options for Neural Tube Defects?
There is no cure for NTDs, but treatment options are available to manage the condition and improve the quality of life. Treatment varies depending on the type and severity of the defect:
- Spina Bifida: Treatment may include surgery to close the opening in the spine, physical therapy, and assistive devices such as braces or wheelchairs. - Anencephaly: Unfortunately, there is no treatment for anencephaly. Babies born with this condition typically do not survive long after birth.
