How is the Peritoneum Structured?
The peritoneum is divided into two layers:
Parietal Peritoneum:
This layer lines the abdominal and pelvic walls.
Visceral Peritoneum:
This layer covers the external surfaces of the abdominal organs.
Between these two layers is the peritoneal cavity, which contains a small amount of lubricating fluid.
