During EVLT, a laser fiber is inserted into the affected vein through a small incision. The laser emits energy that heats the vein walls, causing them to collapse and seal shut. Blood is then redirected to healthier veins. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and takes about 30 to 45 minutes.
