Mutations in the BRCA2 gene significantly increase the risk of developing several types of gynecologic cancers, particularly ovarian cancer and fallopian tube cancer. Women with BRCA2 mutations have a lifetime ovarian cancer risk of about 10-27%, compared to a general population risk of about 1-2%.
