Minimally invasive procedures generally involve the use of a laparoscope or hysteroscope:
- Laparoscopy: A laparoscope, a thin tube with a camera and light, is inserted through a small incision in the abdomen. The surgeon can view the surgical area on a monitor and perform the surgery using specialized instruments inserted through additional small incisions. - Hysteroscopy: A hysteroscope is inserted through the vagina and cervix into the uterus. This allows the surgeon to directly view the inside of the uterus and perform procedures without any abdominal incisions.
