What Should Patients Expect During Urodynamic Studies?
During urodynamic studies, patients can expect the following:
Initial consultation to discuss symptoms and medical history. Placement of small catheters into the bladder and rectum to measure pressure. Filling the bladder with a sterile liquid to simulate natural filling. Recording of bladder sensations, pressure, and urge to urinate. Instructions to urinate while measurements are taken.
The tests are usually well-tolerated, though some patients may experience mild discomfort during catheter insertion and bladder filling.
