The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that women start getting Pap smears at age 21. This test is crucial for detecting cervical cancer and other abnormalities. Women between the ages of 21 and 29 should have a Pap smear every three years. Women aged 30 to 65 can choose to continue with Pap smears every three years or opt for a combination of Pap smear and HPV testing every five years.
