Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS) is a disorder where an individual who is genetically male (46, XY) is resistant to male hormones (androgens). As a result, the person has some or all of the physical traits of a woman, but the genetic makeup of a man. AIS can be complete or partial, affecting the development of male external genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics.
