Puberty is marked by increased production of sex hormones. The hypothalamus releases Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), which stimulates the pituitary gland to produce FSH and LH. These hormones promote the development of secondary sexual characteristics and the onset of menstruation.
