LKM is relatively simple to practice and can be done almost anywhere. Here are the basic steps:
Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit.
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to settle into the moment.
Begin by focusing on yourself and silently repeat phrases like "May I be happy, may I be healthy, may I be safe, may I live with ease."
Gradually extend these wishes to others, starting with someone you care about, then a neutral person, and finally someone with whom you have difficulties.
Spend a few moments feeling the warmth and compassion that these phrases generate.
