Skyla is inserted by a gynecologist or other healthcare provider during a routine office visit. The procedure takes only a few minutes and involves placing the IUD into the uterus through the cervix. Some discomfort or cramping may be felt during and after the insertion. Removal of Skyla is also a quick procedure that can be done in the provider’s office. The provider will gently pull on the strings attached to the IUD to remove it from the uterus.
