Lymphatic mapping, also known as sentinel lymph node mapping, is a technique used to identify the first lymph node or group of nodes to which cancer cells are most likely to spread. A dye or radioactive substance is injected near the tumor site, and its path is traced to locate the sentinel lymph nodes.
