LEEP is primarily performed to treat CIN (Cervical Intraepithelial Neoplasia), which is a precancerous condition of the cervix. Early intervention with LEEP can prevent the progression of these abnormal cells into cervical cancer. It is also used for diagnostic purposes to obtain a clear margin of the abnormal tissue for further examination.
