HE4 and CA-125 are both biomarkers that are often elevated in cases of ovarian cancer. CA-125 is a well-known marker that has been used for many years, but it can also be elevated in benign conditions and other malignancies. HE4 is considered more specific to ovarian cancer and less likely to be elevated due to benign gynecologic conditions, making it a valuable component of the ROMA algorithm.
