Which Gynecologic Cancers are Treated with Checkpoint Inhibitors?
Checkpoint inhibitors are used to treat several types of gynecologic cancers:
- Ovarian Cancer: Emerging studies suggest that checkpoint inhibitors can be effective, particularly in patients with recurrent disease. - Cervical Cancer: The FDA has approved the use of pembrolizumab, a PD-1 inhibitor, for patients with recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer. - Endometrial Cancer: Patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer have also benefited from checkpoint inhibitors, especially those with mismatch repair deficiencies.
