An ovarian biopsy is typically recommended when imaging tests such as ultrasound or MRI reveal an abnormality in the ovary that cannot be clearly identified. It is also indicated if there is a suspicion of malignancy based on blood tests, such as elevated levels of CA-125. In cases of persistent ovarian cysts, endometriosis, or unexplained pelvic pain, an ovarian biopsy can provide additional information.
