When is a Lumbar Puncture Indicated in Gynecology?
Although lumbar puncture is not typical in gynecological practice, it may be indicated in cases where there is a suspicion of neurological complications related to gynecological conditions. For example, it may be used to diagnose pseudotumor cerebri in young women presenting with headaches and vision changes, or to rule out central nervous system infections in postpartum women with fever and altered mental status.
