Breastfeeding can have a natural contraceptive effect known as Lactational Amenorrhea Method (LAM). LAM can be effective in preventing pregnancy for up to six months postpartum if the mother is exclusively breastfeeding and has not resumed menstruation. Nonetheless, additional contraceptive methods should be considered for extended family planning.
