What Prenatal Tests are Available for Tay-Sachs Disease?
There are several prenatal tests that can detect Tay-Sachs Disease:
- Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS): Performed between the 10th and 12th weeks of pregnancy, CVS involves taking a small sample of placental tissue to test for the disease. - Amniocentesis: Conducted between the 15th and 20th weeks of pregnancy, amniocentesis involves taking a sample of the amniotic fluid to test for Tay-Sachs Disease.
