Gestational surrogacy is a process where a woman, known as a gestational carrier or surrogate, agrees to carry and give birth to a child for another person or couple. Unlike traditional surrogacy, the surrogate has no genetic link to the child; instead, an embryo created using the intended parents' or donors' egg and sperm is implanted into her uterus.
