Upon completing the residency, physicians must pass the [board certification exams]() administered by the [American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG)]() or the [American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG)](). These exams test the candidate's knowledge and skills in both obstetrics and gynecology and are divided into written and oral components. Successful completion of these exams grants the physician board-certified status.
