Barrier methods in gynecology refer to contraceptive methods that physically block sperm from reaching an egg. These methods are non-hormonal and are often used to prevent pregnancy as well as protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Examples of barrier methods include condoms, diaphragms, cervical caps, and spermicides.
