Adult stem cells are undifferentiated cells found throughout the body that have the remarkable potential to develop into many different cell types. They serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing essentially without limit to replenish other cells. These cells are distinct from embryonic stem cells, which are derived from early-stage embryos.
