Using a cervical cap requires some practice. Here are the basic steps:
Apply spermicide to the cap. Squeeze the cap and insert it into the vagina, pushing it up to cover the cervix. Ensure it is properly positioned by feeling around the edges to make sure it is snug. Leave the cap in place for at least 6 hours after intercourse but remove it within 48 hours.
