Adrenal suppression is diagnosed through a combination of clinical evaluation and laboratory tests. Common tests include measuring levels of cortisol in the blood, urine, or saliva. A cosyntropin stimulation test may also be performed to assess how well the adrenal glands respond to ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone). Symptoms of adrenal suppression can include fatigue, muscle weakness, weight loss, and low blood pressure.
