You will be asked to undress from the waist down and lie on an examination table. A speculum will be gently inserted into the vagina to allow the healthcare provider to see the cervix and vaginal walls. The swab is then gently rotated against the vaginal walls or cervix to collect a sample. The swab is placed in a sterile container and sent to a lab for analysis.
