Pregnancy tests are perhaps the most commonly used home testing kits. These tests detect the presence of the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in a woman's urine. hCG is produced by the placenta shortly after the embryo attaches to the uterine lining. Most home pregnancy tests can detect hCG approximately 10 days after conception. They are easy to use and typically involve placing a test strip in a urine sample and waiting for a result line to appear.
