While breast buds are typically a normal part of development, there are some abnormalities to be aware of. If a girl develops breast buds before the age of 8, it could be a sign of precocious puberty. Alternatively, if there is no sign of breast development by age 13, it might indicate delayed puberty. In both cases, medical evaluation is recommended.
