Alternatives to CVS include non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and amniocentesis. NIPT is a blood test that can screen for certain genetic conditions and is available as early as 10 weeks of pregnancy. Amniocentesis, performed between the 15th and 20th weeks of pregnancy, involves sampling the amniotic fluid and carries a similar risk profile to CVS.
